The colour trends taking the autumn wedding scene by storm

A new season brings a whole new and utterly exciting colour palette to work with, and for autumn weddings there are lots to fall in love with.

Autumn is well known for its beauty, with the changing colours of the season a particular highlight within the natural world. With a season this magical to inspire your special day, it’s no wonder couples everywhere have difficulty choosing the perfect wedding colours for them.

Whether you want to go bright and bold, classic and chic, or rich and warm, the following colour trends are certain to strike a chord.

Burgundy is still big, big news

Burgundy is always a popular choice for autumn and winter weddings. After being the go-to colour combination in summer when teamed with dusty blue, it’s back for a new season and more dramatic than ever!

This time it’s a burgundy and peach combo that’s the real winner with its warm and cosy vibe adding the charm to autumn wedding ceremonies and receptions.

Mauve over for this fall shade

Mauve is a stunning shade in its own right, and whether used in differing tones or combined with other colours like midnight blue and gold, it’s a great way to add a moody hue to a romantic wedding scheme.

Unlike other pastel shades, mauve is a muted purple with an interesting hint of grey, which makes it the perfect low-key colour for bridesmaid dresses, classically chic bouquets and fabulous floral arrangements. The result is a dreamy scheme that can be glamorous, vintage or modern.

Copper and sage are all the rage

Earthy tones are always big hits on the autumn wedding scene, and this year copper and sage should be your choice for a wedding inspired by nature and this beautiful season.

This isn’t the first time that copper has been the hottest wedding colour trend of the season. Back in 2014, it was the ultimate wedding tone, even outperforming gold and silver as the metallic shade of choice amongst marrying couples. We’ll let The Knot explain why:

“Gold and silver, step aside—there’s a new metallic taking over. Copper details are popping up in creative ways, from glamorous chargers to centrepiece vases and even copper foil on invitations! The best part is, this metal meshes well with any wedding style: Polished copper can look glamorous and elegant, but matte or aged copper accents lend a rustic or vintage feel.”

By using sage alongside copper and incorporating fresh flowers, feathers, silks, satins and other tactile materials in these shades, you can create a touchable, interesting, natural, warm and beautiful look for your autumn wedding.

Bejewelled to put you in the wedding mood

Rustic may be a wedding theme that springs to mind this season, but as this wedding colour trend shows you don’t have to lose that sparkle.

Do away with tradition with a jewel-toned wedding. A teal, emerald and gold colour palette is autumn inspired and luxurious, with the glamour created with this colour combination certain to make your big day feel extra special.
