The wedding dress shapes and styles of the season

Spring offers a whole host of new bridalwear style inspiration. From traditional to very non-traditional bridal looks, this season has it all, with the fresh and floral details spring is known and loved for and designs that dare to be different.

Here we share our spring 2022 bridal edit so you can discover the wedding dress shapes and styles that are the toast of this beautiful season.

Blush is back – and it’s cuter than ever!

Whilst there are tons of new wedding dress trends to explore, we thought we’d begin our rundown with the return of an oldie but goodie.

Blush wedding dresses will once again be big news this season. As the colour of springtime femininity, blush gowns are more beautiful than ever with ballet style cuts in blush tones trendy choices for spring brides.

Weddingomania explains more about the cut and colour taking the season by storm:

“Shades of blush, grosgrain ribbons, and frothy tulle are nothing new in bridal, but 2022 will see an influx of ballet touches again—from tutu-esque skirts to leotard-like necklines. And it didn’t stop there: Bows and ribbons galore, sheer details, and ballerina-pink palettes that were dreamy yet refined also popped up for 2022. The best looks merge drama with dainty details, gossamer fabrics, and athletic shapes paired with layered ruffles and voluminous skirts.”

It’s all about the puff and flutter

Minimalist silhouettes may have reigned supreme in recent years but there’s a more voluminous shape looking to take the crown this spring.

Comfort is becoming more and more important to the brides of today, which means figure-hugging cuts are out and easy to wear, voluminous shapes are in.

Wedding dresses featuring romantic ruffles, puff sleeves and unforgettable flutters of fabric were seen across SS22 bridal fashion weeks. Up and coming NYC based label Markarian was just one of the bridalwear brands that delivered some incredible looks that put volume centre stage.

Springtime vibes for classic looks

If volume isn’t your thing, the season offers more classic looks with a stunning springtime twist. Whilst last spring made 3D florals popular choices for brides, more pared-back motifs are leading the way during 2022.

Elegant wedding dresses with timeless cuts are receiving springtime makeovers with subtle, sophisticated and eternally stylish floral touches that enhance, not distract from, the classic bridal look.

Deep v-necklines are en vogue

As one of the most flattering and fabulous cuts, we’re pleased to see deep v-necklines make a comeback for 2022. This elegant design feature suits many body shapes and wedding dress styles and skilfully accentuates the décolletage whilst making the waist look smaller.

Whether opting for an on-trend minimalist design or a style with a little more sparkle, a bridal crown or tiara is the only way to finish this beautiful bridal look.

Bridal separates made for spring

With the days getting milder come springtime, bridal ensembles have to be more versatile than ever. So it should come as no surprise that separates are going to be big news this season.

From multi-layered designs and 2-in-1 wedding dresses to gowns with removable sleeves, capes and overskirts, the possibilities are endless!
